Docker is an open platform the provides tools to build, ship, and run distributed applications. It consists of a framework of tools and services that enables apps to be quickly assembled from components.
These apps are packaged in containers that can be run unchanged on laptops, phyiscal hardware or VMs. The workflow and tools used can eliminate the friction between development, QA, and production environments and as a result, IT can ship faster. Docker is a tool in widespread use in the DevOps community for these reasons.
Docker Essentials Training Course
This course provides an introduction to Docker. It is designed to be an extremely practical learning experience useful both for developers and system administrators. The course includes a lot of hands on exercises and the participants will practice in their own Docker environment and build their own Docker images during the 2 days. All of the behind the scenes theory is explained, and all concepts are clearly demonstrated on the command line.
However there is also a lot of hype surrounding Docker and in this course we want to provide a balanced view so we also discuss the pros/cons of Docker and in particular highlight some of the pitfalls in using Docker in an Enterprise IT environment.
This is two-day, live classroom-based training course which introduces you to the Docker platform. We take you through installing, integrating, and running it in your working environment. We’ll explain why Docker exists and why you should care about it, and talk about when and how Docker can be used in production environments. By the end of the course you will you will also be able to perform the basic tasks needed to get started with Docker and integrate it into your development workflow and environment.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone with an interest in Docker and container technology, but especially SW engineers, QA, and Ops folks who have hands-on responsibility for the build, release, and deployment process. You should be familiar with and comfortable using command line tools.
